Ted Rall for February 05, 2009
Transcript:
Bankers: They gave it to us! No strings attached! Of course! We wear suits. Woman: Don't use your newfound riches for luxuries like electricity, and no candles! Sunlight is free! Man: Skip! Boy: Daddy! Woman: Bailout money isn't for cable V, you mooches! Man: Yo, bank queen! You buyin' that non-generic mac 'n' cheese with MY money?! Bankers collect billions of dollars in corporate welfare. Why not treat them the same way we treat other welfare recipients? Welfare recipients get just $110 a week for a family of 3, yet the government watches them like a hawk. They fill out countless forms. They wait in long lines. Caseworkers visit their homes and steal their kids. And don't forget the dirty looks.

Wow, what a flashback, Concerned_Human: I remember reading that book in college and doing a serious paper on it. That book opened my eyes to how seriously messed-up American capitalism really is.

For years I’ve been listening to rednecks whine about how minorities are becoming millionaires on welfare, and all they get is $110 a week?!

ANandy: Is that the only word you know? Is it because you hear people call you that all the time? There are these books called thesauri. They even have them online. I know looking at books and trying to increase your knowledge is liberal, but you might want to try it.
