If I saw the plunger, I would head the warning.

I’d turn around, and go get a bucket of KFC.

Poor Elly, she looks exhausted and frustrated.Looks like perhaps the head of the doll was somehow flushed down the commode. Ah kids, you gotta love em!

I think, John, you line is: “here hon, let me take care of that toilet; you clean up the kids and then all go out for dinner.”

ejcapulet, I really like the first part of your post. But I speak for me, going out to dinner is the one thing I would not want to do. John, just go get a bucket of chicken, mashed potatoes, cole slaw and biscuits. Elly feed the kids and pick up the place a little. John can then work on the commode. Then you two can sit down to a peaceful dinner while the kids watch TV. But go out to dinner with two kids in tow. No thanks, not after a day like that!!

sjpatme and kittylover–I’m shocked you didn’t suggest John pick up some meal-orders from Harvey’s!

Kittylover2 I love your idea. It would be hard at that point to get two little kids ready to go out to eat so best to either order a pizza or have Jon go out for carry out of whatever they decide they want. I hope that commode won’t be too much of a problem but the way that water’s dripping down the stairs looks a mite foreboding.

Yes, Kittylover, I can remember my husband offering to take us out, and my reply being that cooking would be lots easier than coping with the kids in public. I did appreciate the offer, though; and said so.

Another idea: John can make executive decision on the takeout and bring it home!

Choices: sandwiches (from Mr. Sub, Tim Horton’s, …), Chinese, Italian (way too many choices to list)

Don’t forget the back rub, and or foot rub after the kids are in bed.

Now if I were John I would tell her that if she would like we could go out for dinner or i could cook.

shadowwriter, apparently you missed the thread of Elly’s trip to Vancouver–I don’t think she wants to handle the disaster of John’s cooking on top of what she’s already gone through.

If they want to go out for dinner, the parents should prepare to mind their kids’ manners while they are at the restaurant or fast food place.

Oh wow, it’s my house! Only I don’t have children. I have 5 cats, 2 birds, 1 rabbit, and a 55 gallon aquarium. I take that back, I do have kids, they just have fur, feathers or fins.

Been there, done that. Both as a kid and a mom. I agree to have someone go get something if I don’t have something I can microwave quickly.

pookid54 Thank you, thank you. I was almost on the floor in laughter. Yes, I am sure I know how that dog felt. I come from a family of seven kids, me being the second oldest. Many of time I wanted to just hide in the closet.
