    Of course, it was originally Armistice Day, celebrating the end of The Great War (WWI.) It became Veterans’ Day after WWII made WWI pale by comparison. It was changed in 1954.

    Yeah, but at least those guys from the Korean War got to come home to a rousing welcome, unlike most of us ‘Nam vets.

    furnituremaker: that is so sadly true

    too many people only think of today as another day off of work or school and give no acknowledgment to those that sacrificed so they could have that privilege

    If the news had it right(TimesonLine), there were no WWI vets alive for the British Remberance Day observance. Day of Rememberance indeed.

    We have Veterans of all branches in churches also. They are forgotten as well. Don’t forget the Coast Guard. Lets pray for the end of the Iraq war. We need to get out of there.

    The USA has not declared war on Iraq. Get your facts right Doty. There was no declaration of war in the Iraq Conflict.
