Now let Gertie get rid of that terrible wig, and start looking respectable again.

Way to go Corky! Now if only you can keep Slim away from the food there may be something left for Gertie. Where’s Earl? I want to see him show up to court Gertie.

Thats funny Struwwelpeter2 ! Yes, this is more like it. I have a little more respect for Corky now, since he apologized like a true man. Don’t see Earl around, beginning to wonder if he left town but called to explain the true story of what happened. Walt is probably dozing off again in a nice comfy chair dreaming of going out on a turkey shoot. As for me, I’m off to work. Have a good day everybody!

I think Gertie might be keeping her wig. This is a way for Scancarellii to have an explanation for the change in the appearance of a character.

Sad to see the consequences of irresponsible actions (by Gertie) is the BLIND reward by Skee & Corky.

If the free food at the diner allows some of the other GA characters back into the strip then we might have a silverish lining.

It will be interesting to see if abandoning Walt for a free hot dog will be again rewarded.

Actually, I took Dick Tracy out of my regular line-up because it was obvious that the strip was no longer about the Dick Tracy I had known years ago. I am not sure how Go Comics goes about determining which comics are the “most popular” in their list - but I think it might have something to do with how many comments the strip generates - good, bad or indifferent! So - even the nay-sayers do their bit when it comes to putting a comic strip on the “most popular” list. One comic which seems to make the “most popular” list every time is State of the Union. State of the Union DOES have a whole herd of comments every time - and the comments are usually generated by people who hate the strip who are arguing with people who seem to like the strip. Little do the nay-sayers know that their negative comments are going a long way toward giving Go Comics the impression that State of the Union is one of the most popular strips which Go Comics has in their line-up! One comic which almost never makes the “Most Popular” list is Doonesbury. I figure that is because people who do NOT care for that particular strip just do not bother reading the strip OR if they DO read the strip - the don’t bother to make any comments about it. And the people who DO seem to enjoy Doonesbury never seem to have much to say about the strip. So nay-sayers who jump in to make critical comments about any strip are doing their part toward putting the strip on Go Comics “Most popular” list. I personally don’t have a problem with people offering a critique of any body of work - whether it be a comic strip, book, movie, TV show or opera. Most people who are involved in any type of entertainment art are aware that there are plenty of critics around, ready, willing and eager to offer their opinions about any body of work. By the time that most people in the entertainment arts become more or less established - most of them have developed a VERY thick skin where criticism is concerned.

Personally, I think it would have been a nice touch if the artist HAD shown Walt at the dinner table at Thanksgiving. And it would have been nice if Bird HAD turned up to do the “Prince Charming” duty while rescuing the fair damsel in distress. But, at least we DID get to see Skeezix AND Corky at Thanksgiving. That, in itself, must be seen as a plus.

I missed Walt’s annual tribute to Veterans and Walt’s walk in the woods - and can NOT imagine what the author must be thinking to suddenly omit those two traditional strips this year. Hopefully, an explanation with be forthcoming soon.

To the trolls, please refer to the following:

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suspension_of_disbelief

It’s fiction…like how Wile E. Coyote’s falls and doesn’t follow the normal laws of physics, and how he never dies, regardless of the distance of the fall or the g’s suffered from explosives.

Do we really have to repeatedly explain this?

Channce and others, Dick Tracy is also getting a lot of bitter complaints for story and art. While GA is better drawn the stories have not been so great. DT has been just awful period. It’s a wonder Dick Locher hasn’t been fired.

However, you will notice that DICK TRACY made the list of “Most Popular” comics in the Go Comics list - so all of the “bitter complaints” being registered about Dick Tracy have only served to make Go Comics believe that Dick is really, really, really popular with readers!

Thank you BuzzDog. Perhaps we should look up the definition of Comic. Mary Worth and Apartment 3-G are as close to reality as a comic strip may be.

Gasoline Alley will have a changing cast for as long as it runs. We no longer see Pert, we watched Rover and Eve grow up and their children will as well.

But we are all entitled to our opinions.

And besides which, Gertie didn’t go in through the stage door to rescue Walt. She didn’t say or do a thing to indicate Walt was anywhere in her thoughts until after the show in Bird’s dressing room, after he told her his affections had cooled and offered her a job as comic relief mascot for the Cackle Sisters.

At that point she suddenly remembered poor old Walt and ran off to look for him. But everything she did up to that moment was a combination of being PO’d and hell-bent on get her money’s worth for the forged tickets she got in with, and alleycatting to see how much action she could get going with el Birdo.

If the nay sayers want perfection, it is doubtful they will find it in the comics. The comics are to my knowledge not known for ‘Father Knows Best”. They are human interest events, right or wrong…and for that reason I enjoy them greatly.

Among the adversities, I still have MUCH to be thankful for.

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving..

“Father Knows Best” was perfection? Okay…

Anyway, perfection in comix is the farthest thing from my mind. I don’t even give a rat’s hindquarters about the “great artwork” …have it your way, it’s not important to me. When I want to see great artwork, I’ve got much better places to go.

What I want from the comix is entertainment, plain and simple, and the entertainment I get from stupid strips like this one has become is to heckle, boo, hiss, and blow raspberries.

Like some never tire of pointing out, it’s only a comic strip. Why does someone having a little fun by crapping on it every day upset you good folks so much? It’s almost like your religion has been offended against.

most of the cyber-trolls posting comments in the GoComics forum discussions don’t even post comments about the comic on the very same web page.

You man like long off-topic discussion of passages in the new testament and scholarly interpretations of it, on a strip decicated to irreverent satire?

And discussions of the defintion of cybertrolls, complete with hyperlinks?

They only post hateful remarks about other forum members

You mean like calling someone a cybertroll by name, on a strip dedicated to inane satire?

I like the strip as it is, but wouldn’t mind if Scancarelli caved in to the demands for accountability and began “The Trial of Gertie.”

Since when is “Gasoline Alley” satire? I used to read it daily when I was young. - JAD

I wasn’t speaking of Gasoline Alley. I was speaking of Non Sequitur. Speaking of Internet Trolling, you are the one that mentioned this strip over there, and the definition of cybertrolls you posted here, thus inviting crosstraffic, instead of just posting the same link there.

    Speaking of seeking attention.

Perhaps folks would suspend judgement until they go see what kind of comments Mr. Doty is making about his fellow Non Sequitur fans over there. As well as how he routinely ignores the host’s requests to limit his comments generally to the topic at hand, which does not include … well, go and see.

This is my last post here. If the definition of off-topic is broader here than elsewhere, that’s fine. I don’t have a dog in that fight.

But I’d ask for the same leeway. Mr. Doty was the one that opened the door for inter-strip conversations and even comparisons, I think, and if he is not considered overly off-topic here, that opinion is not universal, I assure you. I doubt I’m the only Non Sequitur fan who is less than fascinated with your … expertise on cybertrolls.

Mr. Doty, please – what’s said in Gasoline Alley, let it stay in Gasoline Alley. ‘k’?

And Dr. Toon, I was raised to believe that it’s rude to speak about someone in the third person in their presence, as though they’re not there. I’m just saying. To you. Ain’t no thang, though.

    Y’all be cool. Peace out.
