I didn’t think Max was afraid of anything. And he almost looks like he’s from another comic, like Peanuts.

I think he’s terrified that his father’s guts are coming out…
Max is horrified that they carved the pumpkins. Several years ago Jan did a series where Max picked out a pumpkin, then refused to let anyone carve it. When Wally approached with a knife the first time, Max had a similar look on his face.
