Ken, I too like the detail and complexity of Ramirez’s artwork, which leads me to question why his politics is so empty of detail, complexity, or analysis of the real world.
Hey, just because most other industrialized countries can have a working healthcare system that produces comparable results to those in America for half the cost doesn’t mean the US of A can have that! No sir, that would be un-American!
Hey piglet, the statistics that compare our system with the rest of the world are a pile dog poop.
I knew it before I had to partake of some of that ” …comparable results to those in America for half the cost …”, in Europe.
There is no comparison! Particularly with respect to availability and technology. And the cost? Considering that you are getting a 30-year old technology, it is bloody expansive.
No, thanks. Keep the bloody government out of the business!!!
Peter, apparently you think that people in the Netherlands, Switzerland, France or Germany are being cut with medieval saws, and every little clinic in the US is a haven of technology to make NASA proud.
Get real. Availability and technology not existing anywhere else? I’m basing my claim on the OECD, where in 2007 the average costs per person in the US were approximately 7200 USD, including the uninsured (costs for which are included in the average). No other country even came close. The surveys on the effects of healthcare have been attacked by some, but are solid enough to support the claim that the US does not enjoy an across-the-board advantage. I have seen no credible evidence to the contrary.
You claim there can be no comparison? Care to say what YOU base your claim on, when the likes of the OECD do not satisfy your high standards for statistical quality?

He did state that he was recently treated in “Europe” (England?) and that this anecdotal account is therefore the benchmark for the rest of the continent.

A true conservative cartoon, one that should make them happy, no thought involved – the mule is well done though.
Ramirez does draw well, I seldom agree with his cartoons, but I always enjoy looking at them.

“But it’s not really about health care, in the end.”
I say….3 cup Monty….. all 3 cups have a pea under it . All chosen (bought) for and from the very same pod .
The “Game” .. stir the pot , keep it moving and don’t let a crust form . (divide and conquer)
The “End”.. One World Rule and the unobstructed “finale solution for World overpopulation”.(New World Order)
The ducks are end to end . Prayer is the only hope now .

People are dying, are we just to stand by and watch? Let’s try something, this is still the USA, after all.
