No onw said anything about sporting or fair…. But I am still rooting for Boody. Isn’t there something in the bad guys manual that says there is always a way, no matter how obscure, for the good guy to win?

I remember the Black Knight, from the pre-Comics Code days…. The King’s Executioner, the ugliest man in the kingdom! –And how did he get that way? Well, it’s an icky story….

Boody! –Be of stout heart! I foresee a dramatic rescue!

So….is the announcer supposed to emulate someone? He reminds me of Ed Sullivan for some reason.

I did see this act on Ed Sullivan. It came on right after the guy who spun dinner plates on sticks to the tune of “The Sabre Dance”. Poor Boody, They even plugged up his nose with corks. I hope his buds show up in time.

I’m puzzled by the corks in the nostrils… I mean, seriously - that’s just cruel & unusual punishment

Seems like “in through the mouth and enthusiastically out through the nose” would cause those corks to fly!

The corks are to prevent any unwanted fire breathing, yes? And the announcer just sounds like a regular fight announcer to me. “LAAADIES AAAAAAAND GENTLEMENNN!”

The announcer looks like an older Basil Rathbone. I’ll bet he’s an Evil Vizier in his second job. The guy just looks plain wicked.

I know it’s just the way I’m looking at it but George’s lance looks like a flintlock.

Yes,bmonk, precisely. Black and White Knights equal Black Hats and White Hats.

(Black worked for Darth Vader, too.)

(I’m posting this info on some of the more heavily commented GoComics sites. Feel free to repost.)

If you’re reading comics at GoComics, you’re probably also reading comics at comics.com.

And if so, you’ve noticed that Comics.com has been down hard since Saturday.

The comics.com site hasn’t shut down and it’s not the victim of a hacking attack. The short version there’s a DNS problem. The site’s still there, but the Internet can’t find it. That’s why comics.com can’t put up a “We’re working the problem” sign on their main page. Well, they COULD, but it wouldn’t do any good. The rest of the internet couldn’t find the page.

The good news is that there’s a workaround to view the site and the strips. Go to http://www.softsailor.com/news/7155-comics-com-down-for-second-day-in-a-row.html and look for the comments by Comic Geek and patrick. I’d recommend reading the entire thread (it’s not that long), but the posts by Comic Geek and patrick are the importants ones.

Note that the workaround requires editing a system file. If you don’t know what “DNS” means, or you don’t know the kinds of problems you can create for yourself by incorrect editing of a system file, then you probably shouldn’t edit the system file. Find someone to help you edit the file.

I initially had problems with comics.com sites I had bookmarked as www.comics.com instead of just comics.com (note the leading www), but I think that might have been a typo that has since been fixed. In my case, changing all my comics.com bookmarks from www.comics.com to just comics.com fixed my problem.

I did a reboot in as well, but I’m not sure that was really necessary. A reboot can’t hurt, though.

NOTE: You’re have to re-edit the system file, to reverse the changes, once comics.com gets its DNS problem solved.

OK, it now appears that as I was posting my info on a workaround to the problems with the comics.com site, comics.com was fixing their problem. I’ve seen several people say that they can now get to the comics.com site without editing the system file.

If you’re still having problems getting to comics.com, wait a while before doing anything. First, the fixes comics.com made will take a while to propagate through the Internet. Second, the site will probably be heavily loaded for a while, due to people catching up on their favorite strips.
