As we all know, this strip is recycled material from several years ago. That means it’s usually out-of-sync with the seasons. And today’s strip made me realize that I like that. It’s nice to think about Memorial Day in the middle of frozen January. (I live in the north where it really is frozen.)

Back when I was growing up Memorial Day was on a fixed date of May 30th. Since that day is my birthday, I used to pretend that the parades were for me as well.

I’m listening to my new music, Shika. Right now I’m listening to the hits of The Animals.

Of course I’m also getting thoughts of rerecording all the old material I recorded – and particularly the music of the 50’s and 60’s. This is a huge make-work project for me, but it will be well worth it with some new music while dropping that which now irritates.

Grog, you would have a great time talking to my cousin in Philidelphia. He has a sound system that is very good, and a record player that cost I don’t know how much, but it has great sound. I’ve never been to their place, but he talks about music and recordings whenever we meet.

On a week night, 2 if I’m lucky. I get tired after that. But I can’t count on listening much tomorrow either. I need to be at my desk to catalogue the songs I want to record, but I’ve got too much to do around the house including taking down the decorations, finally and doing laundry. I may be lucky enough to listen to 5 disks on Sunday.

The only decorations I have to “take down” are an 8" tree and a small red reindeer. My excuse is that a) I’ve been sick, and b) I am too lazy to move my guest’s huge luggage from my closet door to put the stuff away. lol

My guests are storing their belongings here while they and their family look for lodgings for them. They are staying elsewhere for a while to give me space to recuperate.

I like both those two, or at least, I do when I hear them. I don’t own much music, apart from classical, choral or folk.

Sky Pilot will be my next song. It was considered to be an anti-war masterpiece. Of course pilots could drop their bombs without having to truly see the consequences of their actions. To the ordinary person, they had it pretty easy compared to the foot soldier who actually saw the carnage.

I’m going to get ready for bed to relax and do some reading now. I have an early day ahead, with a reading group and then a meditation group.

I can see that Grog. I think that dropping bombs is vaguely watching a movie- you know there’s carnage, but it is not real. Except a pilot only sees a plume of smoke and fire, if that.

Fellow Baby, a VERY DEAR friend of mine came from England. She met and married one of our hometown boys who was stationed in England in the Army and ended up marrying him, becoming a US Citizen and moved here. She was a LOVELY lady, her parents ended up moving here as well. Norma was an only child, and her folks moved here to be close to her, Jake (hubby) and the two grandkids. Norma, her mom, and I often went to lunch or dinner together. Norma died at a very young age, 43, from luekemia. But before she met Jake, and before Eric Burdon became famous, they were a couple for quite a while. She had some Really cool pictures of him back in the day! Wish you could have seen them!

We are going to an early dinner and to see the Hobbit tmr. I hope it is as good as the Lord of the Rings trilogy. That last “Lord of the Rings” movie was the last time I set foot inside a movie theatre.
