Having been bitten by a dog (my own — a Shih Tzu rescue who had been abused by former owners) 3 times, I can attest to their teeth being, if not lethal weapons, then “hurt like the dickens” weapons. (Out of all the dogs that I’ve had and loved, Jake Arthur, the Shih Tzu, and I had the closest bond. Gone 10 yrs., and I’m crying just thinking about him. RIP, Jakey)

Good morning, Lonewolf, cleokaya, puppybreath, Dry, sugie, Citizen GROG!, x_Tech, JP Steve, noicantspell Hallford, nighthawks, Shikamoo, Greg Trail, chefwen, Jkissmya and CDers everywhere!

@ puppybreath You can now add “plumber” and “home contractor” to your resume!

@ nighthawks I forgot to tell you yesterday that I got a kick out of your “helmet tree” remark! Do you suppose that’s how they named the elm tree ( h-ELM-et?….groan!)?

I don’t think today’s strip looks different at all… Maybe a little bit in the second panel, but that’s probably because it’s a close-up.

everything got signed that needed to be signed. i need to get squared away with our share of this years land taxes and it should be done for me. i think. i have never done this before so i have no point of reference. i have ben told that it usually does not go this fast, but since the buyers are paying cash, and signing a “as is” it went without bumps. (so far.) i guess everyone (all you included) was right. it happened when it was meant to happen. wow. i am flabbergasted with how fast this all happened. i almost am sorry that i chose a 60 day escrow. until i take a look at the weather in Oregon.my new realtors in Oregon told me that everything is going for 80 to 85 percent of asking price, and there are still REAL good buys popping up. (and going fast.) i can only hope that our luck holds.and i’m going to get mom her (my) cat.

There is something sacred about hard covered books. Maybe because my parents had so many which I still have. Modern technology is nice in some ways and a TRUE CURSE in others! Holding a BOOK in your hand SURE BEATS READING IT ONLINE, ANY TIME, ANY DAY!

Anybody still there? Anyone still awake? It’s about 12:00 AM here in “sunny” Califonia and we have been having “weather”! That is to say, WET weather. And tomorrow we are supposed to have even wetter weather than we have so far and with 40 to 45 mile an hour winds too.

I managed to pick up another bad cold during all the work we were doing to peel back the soaked carpet and pad at my friends house and wrestling it outside without ruining the portion of the house between the bathroom and the outside door. A really soaking wet carpet is super heavy and so is the drippy wet pad.

But probably if someone were just looking in to see what was going on, it was probably too funny; hilarious in fact. By the time the deed was done, or mostly done, I was totally soaked right down to my socks and underwear. Cold too!

This cold started coming on yesterday and by this morning I was drowning in, forgive the description, “snot”.So I am taking the miracle elixer you turned me onto and hope that I will be better tomorrow.

By the way, Ralph and Agnes had an absolute ball playing with my friend’s big dog. They couldn’t figure out what we were doing and wanted to include us in their games and playtime. I fell over one of them, I’m not sure which one because I was backing up and pulling this humongous weight of a wet carpet when “whoops” something furry caught me right in back of the knees and I went down. Fortunately nothing was hurt except my dignity, which under the circumstances I didn’t have much left of anyway.

It turned out that the water from the overflowing toilet had totally soaked the bathroom. What wasn’t all that obvious was that the water ran on the plywood floor and under the carpet and pad into the bedroom. The carpet pad in the bedroom was very wet and we had to pull up the carpet and pad in there too. What a mess! The big, heavy wooden queen size bed and the mattress set had to be moved as well as bookcases and nightstands and all the computer stuff.I have to go to Home Depot and pick out some new floor coverings for my friend. I think some kind of “hard” flooring like vinyl in the bathroom and, I don’t know, maybe carpet in the bedroom again. I have to do this because my friend, let’s call him “Gary”, does not have the ability to be discerning and to pick out the best product for the job at the best price. Knowing him, he could be talked into anything, especially if he liked the color. Besides it has to be affordable because I am going to have to figure out a way to pay for all this as well as a new toilet out of his social security. I may have to put this all on one of my credit cards and just take $50.00 or so a month out of his income to pay it off. His family won’t help. It wouldn’t be the first time I put things on my credit card for him because otherwise he just couldn’t afford it.

Ah well, so it goes. At least Gary is happy and delighted with the whole idea of getting new flooring and a new toilet. He has “plans”.

I will make more sense tomorrow or the next day when I have a chance to rest and I hope breathe normally again. This snuffling and sniffing is not making me feel all that full of energy, and I feel frumpy besides.

In the meantime ((((((((noicant))))))) Hooray for you! All the papers are signed and things are moving foreword quickly. See, I told you that’s how it would happen. I just felt it in my bones! (My old bones I might add) You’ll see, everything is going to work out for you and you will be so happy with the results for you and your mom. I wish I could hug you with happiness right now. Wait, maybe not. Pretty sure I don’t want to contaminate you with cold germs. But if I didn’t have them…..wow! Big, big, happy, happy, happy hugs to you. And to quote Sugie, Joy Joy Joy and every happiness and success to you.

On that note I take my leave and wish all that is bright and beautiful to everyone, noicant, StelBel, Dry, Citizen Grog, Cleokaya, Sugie, x_Tech, Nighthawks, Lonewolf, Greg Trail Chefwen, Shickamoo, Serenaskitty, Plods, all together a wonderful family of friends.
