I suspect Justin may have edited the movie titles to make it more contemporary. If it’s truly an ancient Mythtickle, the original movie may have been The Passion of the Christ, for example. Some highly controversial film(s) like that.
What’s even more ancient is the word “Bijou;” I don’t think I’ve seen that in actual use for close to about 20 years now.
Is there some sort of controversy with the new movie? I must have missed that news somehow. I’ve read both books and enjoyed both of them but haven’t seen any movies. I can see however that some theological types might have questions regarding Mr. Brown’s take on religious history, he touches on the influence Paganism had on early Christianity in parts of both books, geez major christian holidays are chock full of pagan symbolism. I suggest the people with a problem with these ideas to get over it.
I’m reminded of a kid I knew in the Boy Scouts. Once at camp he told me about his deeply-held Catholic beliefs, but when I said, “Now what I believe is…”, he covered his ears and said he couldn’t listen because it would be to deny his religion.
The next controversial movie is probably “Corpus Christi” according to an email being forwarded in which Christ and the disciples are homosexuals.
Not my thing but I would never tell anyone else they could not go see it.
One thing I object to in Dan Brown’s book Da Vinci Code is his ignoring historical facts. I won’t go into the whole spiel, but I can say that he has a page at the beginning of the book listing “Historical Facts” (or something like that), and not one of the dozen or so statements is historically true. Most are not even that plausible to someone with a passing knowledge of history.
Can’t speak on Angels and Demons, since I haven’t looked at it yet, but I can say that I am inclined, given Mr. Brown’s track record, to be suspicious.
I remember back when I was a born-again Christian, we were all being warned off of Last Temptation of Christ based on an early draft of the script that James Dobson had allegedly read. The Vatican’s more familiar with Angels and Demons due to how they used the City as a filming location, but the trepidation about it is still foolhardy. It’s clearly a fantasy, whether Brown wants to pitch it that way or not.

Maybe so, but the books themselves insist that they are historically accurate (and I concur with bmonk that on every point I am aware of they are not; and I have read Angels and Demons) - I tried one more, and it was so boring I don’t even remember the title.
For an interesting variation on the theme of “Mythtickle” take a look at “Legend of Bill” a new strip here. It has a way to go to be as good as this strip, but it is worth reading. It has a touch of “Pibgorn” as well.
