I like the the convenance and portability of my E-Readers. I used to have many print copies of books, but sadly had to thin out the number after moving into a one bedroom apartment. I have kept several of my favorites and downloaded copies of some of the books I’d sold or donated. I loved the experience of opening physical copy of a brand new book. The sent combination of fresh ink, paper and binding glue were like the new-car smell to me.
During Covid, our local library was closed. I learned to use my Ipad to find books. When I first started to read from the Ipad, my hand would come up to turn the page! Decades of “muscle memory” were showing, as I have been an avid reader since early childhood.
I love my books, and I love my Kindle. Although most of us who are at my age, and uncle Ted’s, still love our physical books so kudos to the old dog for picking up a new trick! Obviously, Brutus agrees by his expression in the final panel.
When my library was having a problem with the subscription to a certain magazine, they gave me a free trial to their web site. The pages actually appear to turn and there is a sound too.

I ran out of physical book space awhile ago and couldn’t bear the idea of parting with any of the books in my collection, so I started using an e-reader. Very hand for increasing the size of one’s library!

Never used an e-reader because I love the smell of the paper books.

I love my Ereaders. They offer me entire libraries of books without taking up lots of space.

Did you fold the pages to save your place?

The metaphor just got sideswiped.

When you use an E-Reader you left swipe to turn the pages. So when you left swipe does that mean you don’t like the book?

I am more old fashioned and love to read books.
Can you imagine if they updated the old TV show, Hawaii-Five-o.
Back then when McGarrett solved the crimes and said, “Book em! Danno!” That was SO COOL!
Nowadays McGarrett saying “E-Reader em! Danno!” It just doesn’t sound the same pizazz.

Isn’t it stealing if you swipe a page?

I like and use my e-reader, but I do like the tactile feel of a print book in the hand.

I read all the time and the only time I’ve read a paper book in the last 10 years is because I couldn’t get it digitally

It took me a while but I finally started using one. I feel safer not having piles of books around me.

They do come in handy, you can even use them as a coaster.

the downside is that if you’re reading in bed and fall asleep, it’s gonna leave a bit of dent in your forehead, unlike a paperback… ☺

I have read that people who read “real” books are more empathetic than those reading on devices. It does kind of make sense to me.

I’m currently listening to a Stephen King audio book. I finished Mercedes man a couple of days ago. Now I’m listening to Finders Keepers.
