One of my top 5 comic characters to hate. Glad we don’t have to see too much of him, I always want to crawl into the strip and beat the bejeebers out of him.
Hmm, sounds like the last place I worked! Love how they wanted ME to clean the bathroom mirror THEY spit on (they’re tall, I’m 5’)…when I had a broken right elbow!
I am an accountant. I took first year college accounting course in high school – one other girl and me in the class. I went through the 4 years of college in 3 years – every accounting class had one other girl (who it was varied with each class – not always the same other girl) in it. I graduated and went looking for my first job. I grew up with a father who was an accountant and had met mom in an accounting class – its in my blood one of my sisters also trained as an accountant.
I found a job with a CPA firm – 2 partners and I worked for one of them, not the other (except on very rare occasions). My boss, a man around as old as my dad, did not treat me as “the girl”. I was an accountant and sent me to a regular assortment of clients. (Now understand I was an accountant like “Leo Bloom” in “The Producers” not one of those fancy rich accountants with fancy rich clients.) I was very lucky – in all the decades I worked for him only one client was upset that I, a young female, was his accountant – and my boss told him that I was doing his books and if he did not like that he should get another accountant.
I mention this as I was lucky to have only that one man who was upset at having a (young) woman as his accountant.
So I really feel for Val (or any woman treated like that).

Jan drew him as sexist, but he’s really an equal opportunity grifter.

I worked with men like that in animated films, and they not only stole your ideas, they also stole your film credits.

I’m surprised he didn’t give her a bill for the unsolicited advice.

Hmm! High Road is a Brit expression for Main Street, glad she didn’t say Ute instead of truck, then I’d be lost

Too bad Val did not record what he talked of and present that to the boss or HR.

Castrating him with a rusty butter knife would be suitable punishment.
