I have a friend with whom I have a running joke, wherein we call each other for Groundhog Day.

One year, I looked all over for a Groundhog Day card for her.

They’re hard to find. All the shelf space is taken up by cards for another February holiday.

Don’t recall a President’s Day strip before. Christmas and Easter are the too holidays that usually receive attention. Maybe HB, tired of hearing us whine, will redo the strip so each day is a tribute to some day or another. I mean, every day has a half dozen titles or more, things like Talk Like a Pirate Day, or National Pickle Day, or Pink Flamingo Day. With thousands to chose from it could be a celebration of lesser known facts about the US!

And readers might even be grateful.

Growing up my two favorite months of school were November and February. November the school week was broken by elections on the first Tuesday with off days for teacher’s convention the Wednesday-Friday of the same week. Off for Veteran’s Day [originally Armistice Day] and then the Wed-Fri of Thanksgiving were also no school days. Maximum days of school 12. February promised two automatic short weeks with Washington and Lincoln birthdays off; bonus of Valentine Day being a fluff day in K-6, spent exchanging silly cards and eating pink frosted cupcakes. Add religious holidays and snow days and the month practically disappeared.

Could we get just a “bit” more attitude in those poses, please?

Amelia’s chuck wagon is sure to appear anytime. Posing for God-only-knows sure works up an appetite, especially pimento sandwiches, even ones past the sell-by date.

I recognize Gil, the Hispanic coach he used to knock heads with, and the Ramones in the background, but not sure about the younger girl and guy.
