    Another fine episode in the saga of Dad’s, let’s say, “selective” memory. Well played, Mr. Mc.

    Is he ever going to get Spud’s name right.

    I don’t understand it, but I love it. Must be some back story I don’t know.

    The gulls were all nestled asleep in Snug Harbor;

    With visions of sardines stocked up in the larder….

    Growing up, a friends dad would always call me random names, I loved it. The same dad who would agree to drive his kids friends places, but in return you had to tell him a decent joke before he’d put it in drive. Once driving home at night in a big flaked snow I remember him having us 3 girls all cram leaning over the front seat together to see how mesmerizing & difficult it is to drive in the snow. Then “sit back & put your seat belts on”. Super memories.

    My thoughts are Mr. Mc said to let Spud know as in ‘who are you and what have you done with the real Spud, because he would never part with cheese!’ And yes, I do know he never calls Spud by his name, but that’s how I took it. And that was very nice of Spud.

    I like how Spud went along with Dad’s name game.

    Love how the tag is clearly marked FROM SPUD, you know. So that there’s no confusion.

    I love, love, LOVE today’s strip! It’s an early Christmas present. Thank you, Mr. Henry. Your cheddar’s in the mail.

    As I read it, I was wondering why Spud used the passive “that’s been eaten” instead of “I’ve eaten,” but the “Tell Spud thank you” joke wouldn’t work without it.

    Brilliant.

    I thought that box looked like the one he received the other day, and wondered if Spud were passing it on.

    Mr MacLellan not knowing Spud is no longer funny, IMHO. For Spud, it’s painful.

    Spud could’ve added a small photo of himself in the package. :)

    I think Dad knows Spud’s name but enjoys the joke.
