I’m in the camp of “we can’t make true artificial intelligence because we don’t have the perspective.”
It has been a bit over 50 years since the first thing that could be called a “personal computer” – the Kenbak-1 – appeared. With most of a century of personal computing behind us, and a lot of supercomputers in our midst, we are no closer to human-like intelligence than ever. We can define inductive reasoning and imagination but we aren’t close to having either of them in computers on a human level.
I don’t mind giving out candy to teenagers who may be a bit old to be trick or treating but I kind of think grown adults of Arlo’s age are too old to be begging candy.
(Trying for my best Lurch [Addams Family] moan) UHHHHH! A moment ago I used google search and it was accompanied by a pop-up saying “Search with an AI-powered boost Try out a new generative AI experiment from Google” The two buttons were “Not Now” and “Join Waitlist.”

Gotta give the crowd what it wants. (And he’s actually not A-I Man; he’s A-I Man’s monster.)

These days parents have to check Halloween candy for THC edibles. Scary, right?

I can see the resemblance, but AI scares me more

Same difference. AI is the result of man’s hubris and the rise of the machines.

Talk about your modern version of a tragic tale of Man’s hubris and its unknowable consequence!

AI is a Frankenstein’s Monster. True of most new technology. What hope when tech is brought out is the good outweighs the bad.

Scientific technology is far more likely to wipe out the human race than any other thing.

Considering the nod to AI, it’s worth noting that the full title of the novel is “Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus.”

Knowledge tells us that the doctor, not the monster, is Frankenstein. Wisdom tells us the the doctor IS the monster!

So in the end, we realize the real monster is the techbros.
