Come on, Tess, the last thing a 10-year-old needs is to start worrying about her weight.

I’m going to die someday whether I eat Haägen Dasz with Bacon Syrup or rice cakes. I’ll go with the sundae.

Most of Ms. Barrows’ characters in her strip seem to existon a maximum of 1600 calories per day per househhold, so for a skinny sub-teenager, it would only appear a blip on her overall intake, as it was for us ……back then. Now? Please pass the gravy ..and more grits and butter, please….

When I was her age I had to eat everything I could swallow to keep from losing weight. I was more like Stick. When I turned 35 everything suddenly changed and I started gaining weight, but it wasn’t so easy to turn my eating habits around. I have as much trouble losing weight now as I did gaining it back then.

I weighed 145 when I graduated from high school 40+ years ago and weigh 153 now, must be my metabolism and the insulin.
