So many questions about this. Why the sleep mask with “X’s” over the eyes – or, is it a masquerade mask?? Why does the carpet go across the desert? Why is there no dessert? Is that the sun or moon? Was he chasing a camel and got to the end of his runner? Do Bedouins wear Euro-style crowns?
I think it means that, no matter what you gain in life (eg prestige, wealth, etc.), we all come to the end of our journey on this plane. Also: Xs on his eyes depicts death.
