A good sunset is Indeed a ‘special’ effect. And to me, at least, what is Most special, is that we have advanced our sciences to where we can actually understand the ‘How’ of it, as well as the ‘Wow’ of it.

Even when we are Not trying to kill one another, we can be a very creative branch of primates. Tho it Does seem to be we spend an awful lot of that creative force creating newer and ‘better’ ways of killing each other- and that if that doesn’t change, there may not be anyone left to appreciate any of the ‘Wow!’s.

Hopefully we can create that change, before it’s too late.

use to live by the ocean. use to go down to the shore. use to watch awesome sunrises/sunsets all the time. use to live in the mountains. use to climb to the heights. use to watch awesome sunrises/sunsets all the time. now I live in the prairies, now I go out on my porch. now I watch awesome sunrises/sunsets all the time. the technicolor, special effects, and fantastic variations mean the sun rising or setting never, ever gets old for me. hopefully, my children and grandchildren and hopefully, great-grands if/when they come will appreciate those wonders IF silliness hasn’t completely won.

Now, tell me that doesn’t look like a creepy clown face between the two kids in the last panel.

And, speaking of things we see that aren’t really there, just this morning I saw a very interesting article on our perception of the things we see. It reminds me of the “what color is this dress” optical illusion some time back. This is a good one folks, and be sure to follow the link to at least the “Starry Starry Night” illusion also:

Where I live at residential, take it for granted on sunrises.

Reading a book (Wolf Ages?) about 820 AD to 1200 AD in England/Denmark/Norway. Where the Vikings raided, robbed, burned, murdered, raped, sold as slaves ahuge portion of the British Irish and Scotch population for nearly 400 years with barely any pauses. If you look at just the last 100 years all the conflicts around the world the numbers of deaths has declined. 50,000 over 10 years in Vietnam….but nearly the same number in Korea in just a couple of years, vs the many millions in the 1940s. Lately the numbers are much smaller despite the stunning detailed media coverage. In other words, its hard to say its getting worse.
