I feel for ya Abby, I had to deal with a mouse in my apartment the other year and didn’t want to have to resort to mouse traps, as I see myself as more of a catch and release sort of guy…but it was quickly apparent that there wasn’t anything else that was going to work. Just one of those things of life, I guess.
The plug in ultrasonic pest repellers work great! I had a mouse in my kitchen that was eluding my humane traps. Tried the plug ins, and no more mice OR bugs in 15 years. Chemical free and humane.
My kid had a pet gerbil, and I bought one of those fancy plastic “habitats” with the multiple rooms and levels and tunnels. Nobody told me that they can chew their way out in the first 2-3 days. So then I had to get a non-killing mousetrap to catch it. That worked great (baited with peanut butter), but it was $30, rather expensive 30 yrs ago. Throughout their childhood I think I ended up spending about $20 on pet rodents and about $200 on their accessories.

What I found works best is Decon rat poison. Put where the mice can get it but the cats can’t. Gets rid of them pretty quick.

I had to buy those once, the extra large ones. They stole it. Seriously, it was gone the next day, never found it.

Trap = dead mouse to dispose of. DECON = mummified mouse body you HOPE you find some day.
