our mom would ALWAYS hide our candy, so that we wouldn’t pig out on it…then she would spread it out over the course of a year (halloween to halloween) and same went with the easter bunny chocolate candy we got…unless the chocolate bunnies were solid then she used that chocolate in the homemade cookies she made for all of us…

Your secret is safe with me but Dads have a way of figuring those things out, so beware and maybe hide the candy in multiple places……

The closest analog to this springs to mind is (I think it was in Spaceballs) where a character reads the subtitles.
