For those of you wondering why Lawrence is wearing a shoulder belt over his right shoulder as if he were sitting behind Gordon instead of sitting behind Mike, the answer is that the shoulder belt has been added for 2021. The original featured an unbelted Lawrence:

The amount of gas in the tank was probably a deliberate action by ma and pa Patterson to ensure that you guys don’t stray far.;-D

Does anybody find it ironic that just the night before Mom blew her top because she found Mike reading an X rated magazine, and the very next night she allows Mike to take out the car with the boys to go cruising for girls?

Funny, that was my Dads way of keeping me on a short leash, in a small town. I had to buy my own gas.

If they run out of gas, they won’t be back. They will be stuck wherever the car stops.

How many times can you bring back a car empty? Asking for a friend.

In my state, at 16 with a brand spanking new driver’s license, you can’t drive your friends around.

I doubt that she wants all 3 boys back at all. She wants her car safely returned by 10.

Thank you for the elucidation, I’m only 80 years old and never heard of a seat belt. Duh!

I have found that reading the comments here can be a real learning experience. Some of the issues raised lead to looking them up and I find all sorts of interesting information. Today’s topic being seat belts, I was trying to find out when shoulder belts were introduced in the back seat of cars. I found late 1980’s for the two outboard seats, but they weren’t legally mandated for that center seat until 2007. Wow! I wonder what they expected us to do, have the two outboard passengers link arms?

yes! People today seem to more concerned about the ‘reality’ in their pretend cartoons than what is happening in the real world… like America being taken down and destroyed and given over to the communists in the name of ’wokeness" and vaxing by our own politicans and political doctors within the government. Suddenly, the enemy has become us.

and the talk about ‘requiring’ seatbelts. Remember those days. We started losing our individual freedoms back that far – and I am sure further back… but I am not THAT old. Anybody list some more freedoms we lost way back? I am sure FDR took a bunch away. I just wasn’t here for him.
