I’ve had similar problems with expensive sets. Not designed by chess players. You’re supposed to figure out if Millard Fillmore is a Bishop or Martin Van Buren is a Knight in the middle of a one minute game.
The one that looks like a big toe is the queen and all the little toe ones are pawns. The rest are pretty much free form except for the bishop. It has a hang nail.
I know the feeling, Sedgwick Nuttingham and Robert Thompson at Board One! That’s why I stick to Staunton sets (even my little pocket set at least mimics Staunton design)….
