BIG NATE AND THE ESCAPE FROM DEATH: PART 1
It is a nice day today. School has just ended at P.S. 38, and a big soccer game is going to occur with them against Jefferson, P.S. 38’s biggest rival. Nate, Teddy, and Francis are changing their clothes in the locker room, preparing for the game. Nate groans.
Nate: Ugh… this game is gonna be a bust for sure.
Francis: What makes you say that, Nate?
Nate: Don’t you know, Francis? We’re competing against JEFFERSON! We already lost, but the game has started yet.
Teddy: Yeah! They have an all-star soccer team, won this tournament for seven years straight, and even have a room just for keeping its trophies!
Francis: Well, yes, but remember, hard work and determination equals success! If we go out there and work together, we will- OW!
Nate picks up Francis’ math notebook and slaps his face with it. He puts it down next to him.
Nate: Yeah, right, but this is Jefferson we’re talking about. Think about it! The chances of winning a game against Jefferson are like, zero to none!
Teddy: We’re going to get crushed for sure…
The referee’s whistle blows. It is time for the game to begin. Players from both teams run onto the field. The crowd from Jefferson is cheering like a bunch of crazed monkeys, while the P.S. 38 crowd is… not really enthusiastic. The referee gets out a penny to flip.

Big Nate. Rock’n’roll, baby! – Part 8
Ahh! Friday finally came! I was packing important things on Becky McGregor’s dance/pool party. I went there and met my friends.
“You exicted about the party?”, I asked.
“You betcha!”, Teddy exclaimed. “We can do lots of things! Relax in the pool! Eat good stuff! Dance with cute girls!”
Suddenly, Becky opened the door and told us, to get into our swimming suits and go to the pool. There was a lot of people from our class. In a moment, diving contest started. We all jumped great, but nobody could beat Teddy’s cannonball with two forth tumbles. I had great fun.
After an hour, we went back to Becky’s house, to change into our clothes, because we were about to dance. Francis elbowed me and said:
“This is your perfect opportunity, to ask Gina to dance! Go for it!”
I spotted her, at the small food station. She asked:
“Nate! What are you doing here?”
“Nothing. Just wanted to get some punch. And you?”
“I’m just standing here, because nobody wanted to dance with me”.
“Same. Speaking of, maybe you’d… dance with me once?”

Yep…..it’s like that sound of the needle going over that same spot on a record that’s reached the end of its run on the ‘ol turntable that doesn’t have “auto-tone-arm-lift”………
The saying goes that everyone is titled to their own opinion, so I will state my opinion on “Big Nate”:
I have grown weary of the same routine that this comic strip goes with The same routine applies year-after-year with each certain season. For the ten-plus years that I have read this strip, it’s frankly the same thing year-after-year, and it’s almost like you know what the characters (mainly Nate) will do every time they are seen. If you have read this strip for years, then you will know what I am talking about, but this is just to save space.
Secondly, Francis and Teddy have gotten little-to-no screen-time to themselves WITHOUT Nate at all during the strips’ run. I can’t recall the last time Francis has had a arc to himself without Nate, and Teddy, if memory serves, last had his arc in October/November 2016 with Paige, and Nate was seen in a few of those strips. It’s almost as if there is a rule to the strip requiring Nate to be in every panel of every strip, which obviously isn’t true because there is a rare strip every so often without him. Give them actual screen-time to where the readers, including me, do not feel like they are treated as sidekicks. I understand that the strip is called “Big Nate” and the focus has to always be on Nate, apparently, but really. Branch out these two and the other characters, who have personalities that can be relatable in our lives.
Thirdly, I am most sick of the second/third panel always being zoomed in closer than the others, like in this strip and so many more. Frankly, I think it shows laziness on Mr. Pierce’s part. I understand that this is the style that the strip is on, but seeing the same thing for nearly every strip is very aggravating.
These reasons are why I am not reading the strip anymore.These issues have bugged me for years on end. As Nate says in the last panel, “it goes on and on and on and on”, which is a summary of the way I feel about this strip nowadays.
spoiler alert: when nate grows up he start a cartoon called “big lincoln” and when lincoln grows up he’ll start a cartoon called “big nate” and so on and so forth. (NOT REAL)
My thought on underage users.They should be banned. Some claim that they are nice but that is just a word. They broke a law that was set. A website said this:‘’You likely won’t be charged with online solicitation of a minor if you just talk to an underage person through these apps. You’ll also be protected if the minor lied about their age to use different services. Taking things further will face you with felony charges, which can ruin your life.’’ I think that these users should be banned but they have the option to come back when they meet the requirements.
I know it is a little late to say this, but the comment section is overflowing, let’s make it a goal that by the end of May, we’ll have less than 800 comments.
