I am sure I am about to say what everyone else probably thought when they saw this one: “The Kiss Of Death!”

Obama is in a lose/lose situation in Afghanistan. No matter what he does he will be criticized.

Leave and he will lose votes, stay and we will lose lives. I hope chooses to lose votes over wasting more lives.

Dammit! Will you PLEASE stop calling him “Osama”?!?!?! That’s all I ask! It doesn’t matter if you like him or not, if you agree with his policies or not, and I’m not going to waste my time arguing with you about ANY of that. But comparing him to bin Laden is downright wrong. He’s our president, and as such, he deserves some small mote of respect. It’s a tough job, and he’s going to make enemies no matter what he does, but we elected him to do it. And for God’s sake, he’s not Muslim! Argh!

Scott, For all those have to say negative things about you; all they need read is your opening line to your comments

“Not fair to Pres’dent Osama. Serious”

To our friends on the other side of the aisle, not very right wing of him huh?

At times you may express yourself much more vehemently than I may myself, but you make many very valid points. Keep us all thinking my good man!

“Quite simply, it is rude and inconsiderate to bore people. My dad used to say, “If you have nothing interesting to say… keep it brief.”

Er, although I am sure your dad was much more interesting than any of our fellow bloggers, I have always thought if you have nothing interesting to say, say nothing! Saaaay Rik, I am offended you have not responded in a positive way to my many clever repartes (well, maybe not all THAT many) Although humor is indeed the great ‘disarmer’ it is lost on many as well. I have heard once “irony is lost on an idiot”. (Understand I am unsure what that means..) ~wink~

You’d think all of Obama’s meetings might have foreseen this scenario? They really didn’t see this coming?

I was one of those who thought he might be too inexperienced for this, not sure if I’m wrong yet.

Cheney/Bush put this guy into power, started this war, and have walked away clean.

They got out, so should we – why clean up another Cheney/Bush mess, paticularly one that will cost lives?

Double yuck! Supporting a really corrupt Karzai government seems like a lose lose situation. Especially when you look at how womens’ rights have not gotten any better after an initial period where it seemed that they did.

According to the last eight years city it wasn’t about getting the enemy. It was about scaring the hell out of America by constantly reminding them that the boggie man was out there to get them. They seem to be doing that again with the massacre at ft.hood. Fear the Muslim!

In the words of Ben Franklin,”Those who sacrifice liberty for security deserve neither.”

The avatar is a dead elk or wapiti (Cervus canadensis) . Boone Crockett record class or photographed with a very costly photo lens . I’m reasonably sure it’s the lens , still nice table vitals .

^ You’re supposed to be a college prof, you know, beardy type with glasses, not the 6ft2 frontiersman, running a combined marathon, swimming in glacial waters, biking through snow. You’re losing credibility here! I, on the other hand, am really 6ft2, occasionally beardy and occasionally wear glasses. I cycle. But never in snow. And not a college prof. Hmm, what was I trying to say? Oh yeah. ^ Cor blimey! .

Strong statement by the artist, but I think he’s wrong. The President was never going to walk away untarnished from that core of ignorance, Afghanistan. Afghanistan is a lost cause. I truly believe that is so.Obama is not to blame for the stupidity and ignorance of that relic of the Dark Ages–Afghanistan.

@ Citynights If the airlines weren’t lobbying to the republican congress to prevent Al Gore’s legislation that would have federalized the airports, 9/11 would have never happened.

I understand your fear, but how long are you gonna hide under the bed? Do you run away every time you see a person of Asian decent? After all, the Japanese did bomb Pearl Harbor and have been the originators of the suicide bomber. And at that time they used planes with guns and bombs.

Are you gonna tell me that every time you go to 7-11 to buy something and Habib is behind the counter that you’re gonna call the cops? I think you’re fears are misplaced. You’re more likely to be caught by a mugger, a rapist, or a serial killer than a guy with towel on his head screaming “die infadel” as he blows himself up.

The interesting thing about the concept of being “over there” so they don’t get us over here is that this ultimately leads to a permanent state of occupation around the world. If we are frightened of the Arabs, we’re over there. If we’re afraid of the Koreans, we’re over there. We will forever be overseas because there will always be someone who doesn’t like us - who threatens us. Is that what we want to be as a nation, perpetually frightened yet feared and resented by all others?

Yes, I know we’ve been sending troops around for a very long time, but it doesn’t seem to have made us any more secure.
