from what I recall, I once had a pee-wee soccer team called the Turtles… the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (no idea how we came up with that; probably because TMNT was a hit show on television then)

But turtles don’t scamper. I suppose they…hmm. ‘Walk’ is boring. How about plod? Tread? Meander? Wander? Stomp? "Stomp, Turtles…Stomp?’

Roman emperor Hadrian went to his wall to talk to the Picts on the other side of his wall. One Pict sloshes woad all over his toga. ‘Who did that’, roared an enraged Hadrian. As one the Picts replied in Pictish, ‘Cul-de-sac’ which, as we all know translates into “no threw woad”. I’m not sure if this story travels well and I’m not sure about my old History teacher either.

We had cheers that were quickly turned “blue” by us with horribly filthy minds. “HEY HEY TAKE IT AWAY GET THAT BALL AND FIGHT!” morphed right away into “… GET THOSE BALLS AND BITE!” I had no idea what that meant.

My son’s 1st grade soccer team had plain bright green T shirts for uniforms. They didn’t like my suggestion to be the “GREEN HORNETS” but they chose “SHARKS”, because what else is cooler to a 1st grader than a shark?

As soccer coach, I was often cautioned to “keep my parents under control” on the sidelines. On the plus side, I did learn some colorful phrases in Spanish.

Squirrels were made pets by the American colonists.

I’m afraid, Petey, your sarcastic wit is wasted on the Cheerleader. She is lost in her “creative” cheer….
