I can’t get the volume button to work when I’m watching television. I was watching Halloween last night, and there was this loud shrilling noise that was getting on my nerves, and I couldn’t turn it down.
I’m not sure why the remotes went from having labeled buttons (on, off, select, menu, back, guide, info, etc.) to assuming that no labels or separate buttons were needed at all. The one that came with our new set (3 years ago) is about the same size but has a large button and a couple of smaller buttons, no labels and no instructions, and we have never figured out the correct combination of pushes to get what we want to show up on the screen. We get there eventually, but by no discernible pattern. We use it to select the TV (as opposed to the 20+ other options that pop up on the screen) and then use our old, clumsy annotated remote to find the program.

I wish that existed. then I wouldn’t have to try to explain it to my customers over the phone.

Well, if he doesn’t learn it then who will teach the adults?
