Now that’s really sad. If McCain had been able to beat Bush, things would have been very different this year, and perhaps McCain would not have felt the need to use Rovian tactics – which didn’t work this time!

    HUMPHRIES says:

“Just for fun: the last Virginia voted Dem was 1964. LBJ won bay a landslide over Goldwater…”   Actually, looking back (i was sixteen that year), Goldwater might have been a better President than LBJ - certainly he wouldn’t have continued taking off the same disastrous advisers JFK and LBJ did - and we might have later been spared Saint Ronnie and Bushes Major and Minor…     acellist says:

“This should explain it: Gila monsters are a protected species under Arizona state law.”   Bad Person   (as i don’t know your gender, my usual “Bad Man” might have been inappropriate…)   At least AZ doesn’t have a “Needed Killin’” law like Texas.     Has anyone seen Machado and Stewie yet today? Usually they’re all over comments on cartoonists like Danziger, explaining how Obama is going to lose … oh. Never mind.

fairpoortfan, 64 was the first time I was aware of what the elections ment and believe you me Sen Goldwater was just a “little” too much to the right even for those days. Good point on Ronnie and the rest but why did you leave out Trickey?

    acellist says:

“It isn’t all bad: ‘Gila monsters are reclusive, cold-blooded, raw egg-loving lizards whose venomous bites can cause intense pain. Ah, but within that same mouthful of venom-laced saliva is a marvelously therapeutic protein – one which has already been synthesized and used in diabetic drug treatments.’ (lovingly called ‘lizard spit’)”   Kate is diabetic, and they tried her on lizard spit, but it made her sick (i think - it’s been a while; anyway, they had to take her off it).     HUMPHRIES says:

“fairpoortfan, 64 was the first time I was aware of what the elections ment and believe you me Sen Goldwater was just a ‘little’ too much to the right even for those days.”   No, unfortunately, he was perceived that way, but was actually closer to a small-“L”-libertarian. While i might not have liked his Adminsitration, it would have spared us later horrors.   “Good point on Ronnie and the rest but why did you leave out Trickey?”   Mostly because he was basically a reaction to Johnson - and because (except in his knee-jerk anti-Communism, which he shared with JFK, remember) his political positions weren’t really all that far to the right, and he was actually pretty good at foreign affairs and Realpolitik, as opposed to the delusional Saint Ronnie, the confused Bush Major and the actively malevolent (but thankfully mostly ineffectual) Bush Minor.

Most of the conservative seem to have gone into hiding, so I will put in my 2 cents (one cent after Obama). “Hold on to your butt”. That may be all you have left after Obama “spreads the wealth”. I’m not one of the “evil rich”, but I’m betting Obama comes after what little I have. I heard a woman on TV yesterday say she “would never have to worry about paying her mortgage or buying gas again”. Boy is she in for a surprise. One last piece of advice. Have another glass of cool-aide and you won’t feel a thing.

HUMPHRIES, How is the cool-aide? Enjoy it while you can afford it. If you are one of the slackers who doesn’t work or pay taxes, you will start getting all the cool-aide you want FREE! Enjoy the fruits of my hard work.
