Sums it up for me! The most crazy thing is that banks and corporations don’t send back checks or create Electronic transfers for tax deducible items. I have to copy every check from the back of my bank statement, write up lists of electronic transfers generated by check instead of just organizing the checks into envelops and figuring out what goes where on the C form… The biggest laugh is that this is all done in the name of paper reduction… Heck, I have to generate more paper and then these banks send me more paper… There is no paper reduction by doing what they do…
This is every family I know: the wife slaves over the taxes, the husband reads the sports section & wonders why she’s so grumpy & doesn’t want to have sex later. I bet he couldn’t even be bothered to organize his receipts. None of my friends’ husbands can be bothered to get info together. When their wives do the taxes, it’s much more tedious & time-consuming than it has to be because the husbands are too lazy to be organized.
A small change at my income can change “bracket”. If I was making over a million a year, that wouldn’t be a problem, and I’d be paying LESS in taxes as a percentage of income. My wife has always done the taxes because she’s hooked on details, and I bring in the money (and hate “major sports” OR dealing with numbers or details). So, marriage is a partnership, what’s wrong with that?

Do not buy/sell more IRA / 401K than you need to not cross the edge of the bracket. Buy just enough or close down to, Cash out up to.

And given the most recent UN resolution, looks like we might be headed back to Tripoli… 207 years later. Ugh.
