More people have been killed using cell phones and their wicked I - cousins. Oh yeah, that’s radiation too. Liberalism kills brain cells.

I’m surprised to see so many employees of the nuclear power industry posting on this thread. Shouldn’t you guys be monitoring the reactor, or eating donuts, or something.

Radiation is GOOD for you? That’s inane. So, tell me, if that’s true why do doctors stand behind a lead screen every time they take x-rays?

I’ve seen others idiots pointing to the fact that radiation is used to kill cancer cells as proof that it’s actually GOOD for you, so let’s use radiation therapy as an example:

Radiation therapy can cause both short and long-term side effects.

Yes, cancer cells can be killed by radiation, but it also kills normal cells in the area being treated. Most acute effects disappear after treatment ends, though some gland damage can be permanent. Fatigue is a common side effect of radiation therapy regardless of which part of the body is treated. Nausea with or without vomiting is common when the abdomen is treated and occurs sometimes when the brain is treated.

Longer term effects of radiation therapy include:

Fibrosis (the replacement of normal tissue with scar tissue, leading to restricted movement of the affected area).

Damage to the bowels, causing diarrhea and bleeding.

    Memory loss.

Infertility (inability to have a child).

The development of a secondary cancer caused by radiation exposure.

One side-effect that I have noted is complete and utter idiocy. Which may well explain the comments posted above.

the sun covers earth daily with radiation. a lot of people use tanning booths to “cook themselves” slowly. Life is dangerous and risky. ….it leads to Death in 100% of cases.

The fact that there’s background radiation does not mean that adding more radiation is harmless.

No one dies when it rains, but you can drown in a flood.

Anyoneb remembers that Family guy episode when the Griffins gain super powers from radioactive waste but when Mayor West tries to do the same, he gets lymphoma?

    I wonder what’s Homer’s opinion about this…

When I worked on Unit 6 of that plant we did not ever think about what would happen in the event of a tsunami. We thought about earthquakes, and I’m glad to say that the plants all handled the quake as designed, but not the tsunami. From now on we will have to think about tsumanis too.
