I don’t think that is a difficult explanation – just look at the average person who is interested in them, realise circumstances/luck had an input and someone saw opportunity to make money which adds up to a rational explanation.

The big mistake would be to assume people are rational, they can be, but most of the time they aren’t.

Logical is the key word. That means he is wrong, for there is no logical reason.
