Dutch has “Van” and German has “Von”.

Schroeder is rarely phased by Lucy’s presence - unlike the rest of the gang.

Lucy has no idea of what Schroeder’s personality, much less how he is disturbed.

Beethoven’s grandfather was Flemish - probably from what is now Belgium, which was then the Austrian Netherlands - and like the Dutch they use “van” rather than the German “von.”

The only reason that Lucy is sweet on Schroeder is because he’s the only one who is unfazed by her. If she could provoke an emotional response from him, she’d become her usual mean self to him.

Amalthea, I had completely forgotten Lucy’s last name until you said that. Big ups for you!
