At one point during my childhood on the farm we had 17 cats and 11 dogs (counting puppies and kittens). No animals in the house was Mom’s rule, she fed them dog/cat food and our leftovers. They would crowd around the food dishes at mealtimes, but somehow there would be little islands of things like jello and peas leftover at the end.

When we didn’t like something, my mother would say, “You don’t know what’s good.” Obviously the same is true of the dog.
