The voice says, "Look what your dad did to my hair . . ."<BR><BR> Peppermint Patty has short hair and looks like a boy. She stands in front of Charlie Brown and shouts, "You didn't tell him I'm a girl!!!!"<BR><BR>

Okay, firstly, hilarious. Secondly, I’ve actually been thinking about this one a lot lately. How in the world did Mr. Brown never realize PP was a girl? She chatted with him while he did her hair. Chuck mentioned her to his dad before she even showed up. Is it really possible that he never, not once, used Patricia’s name or a feminine pronoun while speaking about her? He would’ve had to use the bare minimum of words in order to avoid being specific about her gender. Something like, “Hey, dad, I have a friend who wants to stop by your barber shop tomorrow.” Literally, that’s it. If he had said, “wants to stop by so you can do her hair,” that would’ve made it specific. But CB completely failed to provide any context. Furthermore, Patty mentioned the skating competition while she sat in the chair. That should’ve made it pretty apparent that she was a girl. So I must conclude that either A) Charlie Brown did not mention Patty to his dad at all, or B) Mr. Brown was completely distracted while both his son and the girl spoke to him and just attacked with the scissors. Or, as Heather McCrillis and Jorge Sainz said, it was payback for PP’s ability to strike out CB in three straight pitches. Although I would’ve thought Mr. Brown was better than that. I’m leaning toward the theory that he was not listening. Maybe all he heard when Patricia spoke to him was “Wah wah wah.”
