Val: Phil left.
Gramma Evie: Did you have a nice time?
Val: I think I slept through most of it.
Gramma Evie: A DVD, soft couch, someone warm to lean on...
Val: Why does he even LIKE me??
Gramma Evie: Someone warm to lean on...
Yes he does. Someone that won’t be telling him how the movie ends. Hate it when that happens. I usually just ask, did you want me to watch this or did you just want to tell me about it?
Sometimes, all you need is a snuggle - “someone warm to lean on.” It doesn’t have to be hot passion all the time. Even when you’re still a kid. (more or less).
The real answer…. he’s a saint. Or maybe just a grown-up. He’s apparently after a family, complete with tired mom, two growing kids, and a (sometimes) live-in mother-in-law. After a couple of high-energy relationships, boring looked pretty good to me too. That was 11 years ago and still going strong.
It doesn’t sound like you were planning to pounce on him, anyway, Val, so what’s the problem? Stop thinking so negatively about yourself; he likes you,and he’s comfortable enough to come over with pizza and drowse through a movie together. Phil’s job is sometimes too exciting, I’m sure. Sounds like it was a totally relaxed night; maybe one to remember fondly in thirty years.
And remember Val, if Phil wanted a crazy, exciting love-life and party gilrs, he’s probably had lots of chances to pull over the likes of Paris Hilton. But he chose you.
Before we were married, my Beloved and I occasionally lay on a bed all day and read (different) books. It’s ALWAYS a good day to read, and we just remembered those days before I sat down to write this.

If they end up getting married, at least he knows what he’s getting!

Because you’re interesting and comfortably boring all at the same time, Val.

Phil must not be hot bodied or Val is cold body. I can’t do this with my hubby I would start sweating.

He knows she is basically being a mother and a father, holding down a job and so on – he is prepared for snoozing!
