If the GOP would be willing to invest in our country’s future, rather than their donors pocketbooks, we could have those very fast trains like Japan, France, Spain, China, Italy and other lesser countries.

Buy now, pay later. The economy is booming at the cost of the environment. The conserves can’t see past their noses.

Apparently Lisa Benson has no concept of lagging economic indicators, economic momentum, trade wars or how massive record deficits lead to economic collapses, if she seriously thinks Trump is managing the economy well.

Companies that were supposed to invest their corporate tax giveaways in more jobs are adding low-wage jobs in China and closing American factories (Harley-Davidson, GE Waukesha plant, Carrier, Caterpillar and others). Real wages for working people are declining.

Trump is reversing and repealing the financial reforms that got us out of the Bush recession, setting up next Republican recession

    Interest rates are going up.

Healthcare premiums going up (and people losing their coverage)

Gas prices are skyrocketing (glad to plug our two electric cars into our solar panels).

No infrastructure plan, and roads/bridges crumbling

Retaliations for Trump tariffs are beginning to hit farms and factories in Middle America despite efforts at handouts from Trump to corporate and industrial agribusinesses. Soybean exports lost to RUSSIA (Putin says “thank you”)

Obama cut the deficits he inherited by TWO THIRDS OFF. Under Trump, deficits and debts are exploding to unprecedented levels that will surpass even Bush. And the phony “fiscal CONservatives” understand nothing about deficits.

Running up the credit card is “feel good” fun until the bills come due.

Is the economy really “booming”? I can’t help but wonder whether the folks reporting those figures have been told to lie, just like those studying climate change.

That’s hillarious. If we had public transport like the one at the top, that’d be great. If it wasn’t for the war machine that he’s trying to spend more on, how would the “economy” be doing?

To use an overworked phrase, we’ll see what happens to the economy if the 25% tariffs take hold. Train wreck anyone?

The labor force participation rate (LFPR) shows a very different (more realistic) economy with long term unemployed unable to participate. Capitalism seems to be running on empty, unable to provide work for all those who want to work. At the LFPR continues dropping there may be a point where the economy cannot function without sufficient wage-earners.

The problem with train wrecks is they are messy. Anyone remember 2008? Probably not. But as the philosopher Santayana remarked, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.”

We are borrowing 2 Trillion dollars a year. That is $6,000 per person or $15,000 per household. Can you imagine what the economy would do if we simply sent that to taxpayers in the lower portion of the economic spectrum?

The Dems borrow money when we have to and pay it off when we can

The Repubs borrow money when we can and pay it off when we have to, ( and we have never had to)

Stopping all the money from being hoarded by businesses and billionaires isn’t “socialism”, it’s actually called Regulated Capitalism", and is used to prevent economic disasters like the Great Depression. A roaring economy is more often than not the boom that precedes the bust.

Also, the irony of using a “bullet train” as a symbol of GOP accomplishments is rich.

When unemployment was high and interest rates were lower, that was the ideal time for the infrastructure initiative.

America doesn’t have new infrastructure let alone “faster than a speeding bullet” train! America is crumbling, our grids are outdated and decrepit. God forbid they get hacked and or destroyed……

We can only imagine the horror of embarrassment Lisa would experience if she ever takes the time to actually learn and understand what Democratic Socialism really is instead of relying on what her conservatives have told her it is.

Did anybody else wonder why those pony wheels are smoking? (Yeah, I know it’s just cartoon speed indication, but in my experience when the wheels / bearings start to smoke, it’s about to get a whole lot more interesting than we wanted).

Nice picture of a donkey acting and looking stupid and carrying a label on his bindle that only a right winger would use on a Democrat. The actual Democrats, of course, are about redirecting the government to care for all the people. But the GOPists are trying to hang that “Socialism” big lie on them. I doubt it convinces anyone who isn’t already on board.

That train was derailed and several cars overturned when Obama took over. He righted the train and got it going again. Rightfully told the GOP that they had wrecked it last time and had to sit in the back seat when they wanted control again. Trump was born half way to home plate and thinks he hit a home run.
