You’re a doctor too, John, and you should know better. (Yes, I know a dentist is a different kind of doctor, people, but work with me here.)

What? I guess Michael does not understand that a scale that’s off balance can be adjusted. He also doesn’t seem to understand that the human body fluctuates in weight depending on what you have been putting in or taking out of your body. He also seems to be under the impression that just because you don’t know how to use a device, you should get rid of it. Judging from John’s comments, you can see where Michael gets it.

I’m curious about their wording. I’ve always used the word “scale” for a single weighing device but they are using the plural. I picture “the scales of justice,” but a “bathroom scale.”Is it a regional thing? Or maybe a difference in the type of scale/s.Also, my scale is a new digital type and there’s no adjustment for accuracy. Instead, have to adjust your body with diet and exercise. Alas!

I have seen that in pretty much every case where I had to note a weight. Home scales are consistently 5 pounds lower than government calibrated scales. I suppose marketing is a factor. Same as cloths sizes. US size 8 is not the size 8 of the rest of the world.

…and that’s why one of the rules of any diet club is to use the same scale and to weigh oneself at the same time once a week, not every day or every hour….

The doctor weighs you with all your clothes and shoes on, unlike at home – where you usually have the minimum on. But a 5 pound difference is a little much, unless you wear heavier-type clothes

Go ahead and leave the scale reading 5 pounds light. But don’t be shocked when you get to the doctor’s office and his reads 5 pounds higher than yours + clothes.
