How can a minority within a group that only has control over the house (not Senate, not Executive) make any kind of mandate? After all, mandates are typically executive orders or done via entities with little to no oversight but immeasurable powers… like the FCC, EPA, etc.

With that said… how come DC looks like the snowy plains? Did the Congress building become an igloo? Can’t Joel do a better job at art work? Or is he just as lazy with his art as he is with truth, honesty and reality?

^ When you don’t like the message attack the artist, I guess.

^When you have nothing of value to say, then say nothing of value.

That’s not a hard game to play Jade and you occasionally do say something with depth and thought. Unfortunately, I’ve seen your entire point be attacks of the artist or commenter.

But your major tendency, like in this case, is to completely ignore the entire first point… hmm… and in this case that first point completely negates your comment. I guess it’s more convenient to ignore. Furthermore, why do you always attack the least important points in people’s comments instead of the major points?

Just something I’ve come to notice over the last few weeks. You are clearly smarter than that. I hope it’s not mental laziness as well.

Finally, if you actually did pay attention to my GoComics comments in general I tend to poke fun at or even ridicule aspects if the artistry or creativity is poor or dishonest (regardless of the artists ideological leanings).

See, the joke was the setup for the final point about intellectual dishonesty. I’m sure you are intelligent enough to have picked that up, especially with how much I’ve used that charge with others.

^ If I have nothing else to say, I’ll say what I want to say, obviously. Or would you rather I go off on a tangent and find a way to relate it to an issue I actually do care about? I do not attack the artists, even the ones who post stuff I outright hate. I have made this comment to more than just yourself. You’re fine to not like it, but it’s not like you’re the only one I’ve not made mention of, on the left OR right, for doing so.

As an artist myself, I find attacking the person’s style over their message petty, especially when style really doesn’t affect the message itself.

Jade, I think you still miss the point. You accuse me of maligning the artists artistry as my sole and primary point. However fail in refuting the actual points being made.

I even explained that the quip about the artistry was used as a metaphor to the artist’s lack of understanding what he/she is talking about - hence being intellectually dishonest.

Instead of refuting that, you concern yourself with the most trivial aspect. That’s the part I don’t understand. Fine, ridicule me for attacking the artistry, but do so while also refuting the key point(s) being made. otherwise there’s no point of ridiculing me. The ridicule, itself, doesn’t bother me. It’s the ignoring of everything else of actual value.

I am generally annoyed by Donna Barstow’s technical artistry as well. But at least there is a certain depth there in message and attempt at visual clarity of background environment. That’s why I never brought it up before.

Finally, if you have truly not ridiculed the artists… just those making comments… then I apologize for the area of my accusation that was wrong.

Last I saw, the Independents have a huge chunk of the electorate - these are the ones, of course, who make it or break it in elections… and something tells me they don’t call themselves Independents cuz they want the fed’s running their health care. And they sure don’t want to be strapped with debt for who-knows-how-many generations so the Dem’s can grow government. So yeah, there’s a mandate.

sclark, the feds are NOT NOT NOT running health care. Okay? The RomneyCare plan requires coverage, hands a tidy slice of money to the insurance industry, and permits no real government control over the quality of that care. Which means the insurance companies get to decide instead. Apart from the elimination of the “pre-existing condition” clause – a really positive and important one for the insured – they’re sitting in the catbird seat. In the UK, the government runs healthcare. That means they build hospitals, train doctors (and pay for it), distribute resources (including doctors), negotiate drug costs, and manage costs. We do none of those things.

@DJGuardian - I didn’t nor do care to get into a discussion about your points because today’s topic didn’t interest me. Again, I am looking at this from an Artist’s point of view and would certainly find it petty for someone to say “well, your art is dumb” because someone didn’t agree with the message itself and not as a generic criticism. That’s how I read it. If it’s not how you intended it, then I apologize. I have said the same of lefties attacking even Chuck Asay and Donna Barstow, two right-wing artists I don’t agree with. I just don’t like it when people attack the artist over a message. I don’t think it’s necessary, but maybe that’s just me.

motive, the feds are telling health insurance companies what to do - which sounds a little like the govt running health care to me. Then, this will almost certainly cost the companies more than they can afford, since the alternative will be the govt option, For many consumers, govt-run health care will cost less (but btw, don’t forget these consumers will be paying more to govt somehow - to support ObamaCare). So since private insurance companies won’t be able to compete with the feds, we will end up with govt-run health care. Similarly, the notion that we’ll get to keep our private health care we now have is misleading (to say the least) because either we won’t be able to afford private health care, or there won’t be any more companies to buy from, because they will have gone out of business. In the long run, this IS what we’re going to see unless this law is repealed.

sclark, WHAT government option? The Repubs killed that. That was Obama’s proposed plan – a nonprofit insurance plan (not a healthcare service, just an insurance company). Instead, we have forced enrollment in for-profit.

RV, good stuff. More Democrats than Republicans are registered to vote, but not as many actually vote. This would include most of my relatives, who say it doesn’t matter, much to my frustration.

^Nonsense, churchill. That’s what we have representatives for - and laws about how governments can operate.

I’ll never understand the anti health care crowd. They must spend their free time listening to the faux news crowd. When any company can afford to pay their CEO $400 million, I find it very hard to feel sorry for them when they’re regulated
