Is being worried about the larger group of people bad?Is the invisible hand of the free market talking when coal energy isn’t wanted anymore?(Are you in favor of the invisible hand of the free market?)
Heck, let’s reopen the lead mines while we’re at it, and put lead back in the paints and cosmetics and all those other things we stopped using lead for. And bring back the DDT-spraying jobs! Those people have suffered enough!
Once again, Payne shows that his ‘critical analysis’ skills are woefully deficient! Perhaps he should devote his drawing talents to developing a coloring book for #45.
Coal is dying of its own accord. Natural gas is cheaper, cleaner and will be available in quantity for decades. It still creates CO2, so hopefully, we can transition to renewables before it’s too late.
Payne, when was the last time you were even in a coal mine?
Those places are industrial, technological marvels. PEOPLE don’t work in them, MACHINES do. You have about a dozen guys getting the work done that it used to take 100’s. You bring back coal, full bore, you’re not putting anyone to back to work. The only folks making money when the coal mines are open are the foreign corporations that own them.
So much idiocy in such a small space. Just for perspective – 800,000 temporarily without pay, as they will be made almost whole – the late charges will stay along with the dings on their credit score. On the other hand, 6 billion victims of pollution and climate change.
That’s right. We want to allow government workers to get back to work. AND, we want the oil industry to phase jobs into alternative energy jobs so we and future generations can continue to live healthy lives.
Why does every reasonable request seem insane or impossible to conservatives?

Payne is, unfortunately, as clueless as Stiglich, Kelley and Gorrell. But at least we don’t have Branco on these boards.

Meanwhile solar and wind power grows as battery research yields better options. The bonus is those jobs will last a few more decades.

Coal is relatively inefficient, and fossil fuels by definition will run out. The demise of the Fossil Fuel Industry is inevitable.

Does Payne actually assume the oil and gas industry is a government entity?

More coal plants and coal mines closed in first two years of Trump than first FOUR ears under Obama.

Fracking has caused earthquakes in Oklahoma.
Oil is finite and processing dirtier shale oil is more polluting and require more resources (e.g. water).
