Daddy was like Val, except he never moved the ornaments himself. He sat in his chair and “directed” the decorating. After we got older, we just started decorating while he was at work – until he retired and the whole thing started again.
I’ve said this before, like computers, women may have different hardware but they’re all still running 1.0. This is just one of the standard sub-programs.
Yup. I’ll haul the tree. i’ll go out and cut whatever she wants if we go and cut the tree that year. I’ll bring it in and stand it up and even amputate the little branches at the bottom if needed. But after essentially being told that I had no decorating sense when it came to the tree about 13 years ago I decided it would be better if she and the girls were left to do it all themselves. Besides, there’s football, basketball and hockey on today.
Our parents helped us put on the the lights, then let us decorate it. It always looked beautiful. Years later, I found out they’d wait until we went to sleep and redo the tree.
Both my parents worked and I am the only child. I decorated the whole house, lights and all. Mum was always too tired after work to worry about that when she had to cook xmas dinner for 12 family members, so she was grateful not to have to do it.

In a few years, she’ll wish they could stop by the house to help decorate.

Val is channeling my mum. Picky, picky, picky.

Girls you tried on the tree. With my mom not that picky, we just had fun.
