Here in South Africa there are times when the children have been given a special day off school and then they have to make up those lost hours on a Saturday. Doesn’t happen very often, though. Our school buses are used for Sports’ functions on a Saturday. It is only the private schools though as there are no school buses for state schools. In the extreme rural areas a bus is laid on to transport the children because it is often a three-hour walk for them to get to the nearest school. :(
