A more pertinent question might be, why are we still there?

Perhaps the new moniker for our befuddled avuncular national mascot should be “Uncle Scammed.”

We’re still there because some idiot thought invading Iraq was a good idea instead of finishing the job in Afghanistan first.

We’re there for the same reason the British were there, for the same reason the Russians were there. Pipelines from the oil fields of Kazakhstan to the sea, which don’t run through Turkey or Iran. Now get with the program. One barrel of oil contains the same energy as a man laboring for 6,800 hours, and you can buy a barrel of oil for less than $100. Now that’s worth having someone else fight for it.

As the British found in 1842, the consistent pattern for centuries with regard to invading forces is that NO Afghan “leader” can be trusted! A large part of that is that the multitude of tribes in the area do NOT recognize a singular “leader” -especially when picked by the British, Iranian(Persian), Russian, or U.S. governments! Afghanistan for Afghans, and everyone else KEEP OUT!

Being in Afghanistan is a no-win situation. Even if all our efforts succeeded, they would still hate us. Afghanistan would be better off if we just left them alone.

from an earlier toon: general: “there’s really nothing here. we should just move on.” taliban: “it seems just like yesterday i heard someone say that.” general: “who?” taliban: “Alexander the Great.”
