Gramma Evie: Everybody ready?
Holly: How ready do you need to be for a New Year's party at a SENIOR CENTER?
Gramma Evie: You start by fastening your seat belt! It's going to be a WILD RIDE.
I don’t think Joan remember how wild her mom is. You would think, “If i had world trotting mom, who dates very young. What kind crowd would SHE be hanging with?”
Last yr I volunteered at the American Legion’s New Year Party. We had just finished cleaning up and had joined the diners. The band was about 3 songs in when this older couple went out on the dance floor, WOW. I happened to go over to check on the coffee later and just commented on how good they looked out there. They had been dancing together for 59 yrs, she looked at him…”and 20 more to go” here is to many more Happy New Years everyone.
Those glum clouds are about to be blow away. I can’t say this about my side of family. My own mom is way older then hip grandma Evie. Total opposite so opposite adult grandkids don’t care to hang with her. Mom is 85 turns 86 next year and born a worrier and very nervous over one issue money. She is no candidate for a carehome or living assisted facility. Only damage she has part of a thumb nerve or muscle damage. Now is she were like Evie they and whole family would go in shock.
Now Evie go show those grandkids what some seniors are like.
I have a vague impression that this was done before. But I don’t mind. If it’s like what I remember, I can look forward to really enjoying it, a second time. And I’m not the kind of person who tells, so I won’t be spoiling it for anyone else.

If Holly only knew! Grandma will show her that seniors are not ready to roll over and play dead.

She is a whole lot better than the young chicks, who only look up, when they stop texting.

Are these strips of SS repeats? I though the creator kept them new. Oh well tis great reading anyway.

It’s not a rerun, although I remember something similar at some point in the past.
But looking back through previous New Year’s Eve strips, I came across this, which seems relevant to some of the comments from the last few days:

It’s old I know, but still true. “Just cause there’s snow on the roof doesn’t mean there’s no fire in the furnace.”

I love that I can still be considered younger than some “younger” contemporaries. I’m not old until I’m running from the nursing homes ;-P
