So long as the Us govt and corporations get to take and use my personal information without my consent, I have no problems with what Julian Assange is doing.
Actually, as the employer of these diplomats (I pay their salary), I fell entitled to their work product.
Besides, what Assange is doing is still more responsible that what Cheney did by exposing Valerie Plame for personal revenge.
I just don’t buy into that “the government knows everything” paranoid fantasy.
If the government knew every page everyone surfed on the net every day, it wouldn’t be a problem to catch people making child porn. yet it is.
Nobody talks about what I call “Little Brother”, that anonymous joe who can film your fit of road rage with his cell phone, post it on YouTube and ruin your reputation.
Only members of national legislatures can really nominate someone for the Peace Prize. Lots of charlatans and scam artists have claimed that they were nominated, but weren’t.
Also, it’s unlikely that the Nobel committee would even consider Assange as long as he’s under investigation for a crime unrelated to Wikileaks.
Then, too, it’s very likely that the documents Wikileaks released about Iraq and Afghanistan will result in people being killed as informants or for cooperating with the US and NATO. It will be hard to tell, as there are many killings in both countries.

Does it dry up
Like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore -
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over -
Like a syrupy sweet?
“Then, too, it’s very likely that the documents Wikileaks released about Iraq and Afghanistan will result in people being killed as informants or for cooperating with the US and NATO.” Smells like government propaganda to me.

Since the Nobel committee likes to nominate government persecuted dissidents, how about a Nobel Peace Prize nomination for Julian Assange?

It was already suggested. By Medvedev, no less (well, okay, his spokesperson).

I’m happy to see such (what I believe to be bi-partisan) support for wikileaks on these message boards.

This reminds me of the Boondocks comic, when Huey is always chatting with the FBI Wiretappers.

Forget the Nobel Prize – Assange is a shoo-in for Time’s Person of the Year.
