At least Ohio State contributes to the community by playing against those less-fortunate schools who lack the resources to attract 5-star recruits. Every little bit helps.
Also, no, I am not a Texas fan. I just find it hilarious that their season can be summed up with this and this which is why Will Muschamp is in Florida now and they’re getting ready to pillage the Big XII - II for all it’s worth before they try to court another conference to join and destroy for obvious reasons.
Gordon Gee and all other college presidents that are preventing a true Division I champion by not creating a sixteen or even eight team tournament is an educated fool.
There is no good reason not to have a playoff using the bowl system beginning this week and concluding in early January.
The Legends and Leaders League is an overrated joke.
unfortunately every word it true, despite what Chuck said, most div i teams pick games against teams that they know can not beat them and they do run up the score.
Love the story in SI about the bowl games and who really gets the money.
Like everything else in this country the plutocrats get the money while everyone else just gets screwed.
I found it amusing that he made that comment only to find out that Boise State’s strength of schedule was actually BETTER than Ohio State’s .. Nice
No reason to not have a 16 team playoff. Take all the conference champs and fill the rest with at large bids. Fill the brackets by BCS ranking. Done and Done
ALSO
Let the teams play at their home fields where money can be made.
A bit of a “nit pick”, based on pro player intros in the NFL,
it is THE Ohio State University. But then the president may not be all that well informed.
Back in the 70’s Sport magazine brought forth a proposal of a true division 1 playoff using the then existing bowl games as playoff sites. Lesser bowls getting a lower round playoff game and the big bowls, Orange, Rose, Cotton, Sugar, and Fiesta bowls sharing the late round playoff games and the championship game on a rotating basis with the championship game to be played in the NFL off week prior to the Super Bowl. The reason for the denial of such a proposal was that it would somehow interfere with the athletes study time since it would take place during most colleges mid terms. I always thought it interesting that this same argument did not come up in regards to an ever expanding NCAA Basketball tournament. C’mon college presidents, it’s time to give the American people what we have longed for for so long. A true Champion decided on the field of battle as it should be.
Well, I AM an OSU fan, but I graduated from Kent State and got extra hours at Univ of Akron, and I was appalled by Gee’s comments. This strip is “right on!”

Demented, unfair & untrue. Tank is way out of line here. I don’t know what he’s campaigning for, but it is beneath contempt & I am NOT an OSU fan.
