frumdebang: It is easier just to think in Celsius. 0 is freezing for water, 100 for boiling; 37 is body temperature, 20 the “room temperature” for chemical reactions (a bit cold for my comfort). frumdebang: Depends on how you were brought up. If you were taught (as most here) that the US can do no wrong, but the rest of the world is out of step, you will resist anything else. On the other hand, if you believed there is value all over the world, had poor math teachers and found shifting decimal places was easier than multiplying by odd numbers, were interested in science before Sputnik, etc., it is fairly easy. I can even read/decipher several Roman alphabet languages if it is useful to do so, but never had the proper immersion to be a real linguist.
