Silent Sunday at Megawoods Park Soccer Fields. A day when the fans and coaches voluntarily remain silent on the sidelines during the soccer matches. The benefits are many. A songbird sings its song uninterrupted. Players are able to concentrate. Many play their best game. Referees easily control the game, undistracted by sideline critique. And parents get a rigorous isometric workout.

In AYSO * YMCA every kid on the teams I coach plays 3/4 of the game (unless I have too many kids, then I keep track of the games and make sure that the half time games are evenly distributed) and they get moved around to all the positions (I have coached for 7 years now from ages 3-4 to U8 & U10 today.) My older boy started playing travel soccer this year too, and in travel they do let you know that it is based on ability. My kid is good enough now at his level that he barely sits. I expect, next year, when he moves up a level that he might sit more but he’ll be playing at a higher caliber.
