Except “God” is not God’s name- the most important of God’s name is a four letter word written in Hebrew characters. “God” can be a pretty generic category as there are other religions other than what I am assuming to be your Judeo-Christian one.

Yes, God’s proper name is יהוה (or YHWH, or Yahweh) yet “God” is the common designation for him, and the title he does use for himself.
