I once had a nasty virus, and it defeated every attempt to remove it. You couldn’t access the registry or safe mode, and any time you got close to changing a setting to make progress, it would reboot. I was using MS Live One Care as my anti-virus at the time, so I called them. The took remote control of my desktop, and I could see what they were doing. I’d tell the tech “I tried that” “I already did that” “Now you’re going to make it reboot…” It took them over an hour and a half to finally fix it. All the while I was on the phone with the guy.
Worse was way back when I had AOL. Anyone remember when they had a settlement, and you could get a refund, but you had to call and request it? I spent over an hour navigating message trees until I got to the refund department, only to get a message that said “All lines are busy, please call back later.” And it hung up on me.
