    Public service announcement for lovers of cats and wildlife.

    Not apropos to the comic at all, but of interest to cat and animal lovers.

    Some of you probably already know this.

    Please don’t flush your cat poop.

    People that don’t live on the coast are generally unaware of the fact that many cats have a (mostly) benign parasitic worm called Toxoplasma gondii.

    The problem is that the worms eggs can survive being processed in a sewage treatment plant. When the cleaned processed water is then released into a waterway, and the eegs get into the ocean, they will infect Pinnipeds and Sea Otters and kill them. It has also been found in Whales.

    People are asked to please (double) bag your cat poop and litter and make sure that it ends up in the garbage. It’s safest for seals and sea lions if it ends up in a landfill.
