OK, I went and got Tony’s question, even though some people thought I kinda implied yesterday that I wouldn’t….

This is the part I said was gonna get Tony grounded….

    every day lately he says

There’s a new one EVERY DAY (and they ask me why I drink)

We get it, Tony! We drive you to drink.

    But then he asks…..

“You like nuts? What are your feelings on legumes?”

    Hmmm….

    I know a lot of nuts….

some of my favorite people are nuts…..

other nuts, I could live without.

    As for legumes….

well, if we’re still talking about ice cream,

I don’t care much for green bean swirl, or for split pea sundaes….

then again, peanuts are legumes, and chopped peanuts aren’t too bad on a banana split….

    they’re pretty much like nuts.

Tony (still grounded) asked, about 5 hours ago

You like nuts? What are your feelings on legumes?

    Yes; we like you.

Tasty when properly prepared. I like brown lentils, my husband not so much. Chili with or without meat, minestrone, zucchini with chick-peas, Korean and Japanese snacks with sweet red bean filling, cassoulet, black soy-beans braised in soy-sauce and sugar,… I have to prepare all that more often.Soak them thoroughly in cold water (not in the fridge unless it’s really hot; better change the water several times).Salt from the beginning is OK, even stock.Never under-cook them, avoid any kind of acidity until they are fully cooked (that includes tomatoes, wine and juice of any kind).

@Susan Only split peas errr seconds apart…

But I wanted to share my cooking knowledge.

Still lots do do here; big party tonight – and we both had problems with our backs and knees and colds (nothing at the same time, of course), it’s pretty rare that I take some ibuprofen… Better today (fingers crossed), sunny weather, just drinking coffee. Oh, and short night next night – day-saving-time…

Peanut ice-cream can be very tasty, too…

Sadly, our ice-cream-cafe is under new management; I think the old owner retired. We already miss the ice-cream he made… Fortunately, like him, the new maker is Italian, too – but some kinds aren’t as good as before. Either he uses too much butter-vanilla-extract or more cream instead of egg. The fruit-ice-creams are still excellent; I’ll try lemon (usually our test) and banana. Pistachio is still la bomb – and without extra coloring.

Sorry I’m late. Got a new CPAP and slept really well.

Do you know how many cartons of Neapolitan she had to go through to make you that bowl of strawberry ice cream?

    @Tony:

I like nuts. Okay, I’ll say it, even though it’s a bad joke: I’m nuts about nuts! Maybe you’ll all go nuts over today’s…

    Second “Daddy’s Home” Question:

    Would you forget?

I like my version of “coffee” ice cream. That’s one that’s “Chock Full O’ Nuts”!

As far as the comic goes, it isn’t that it’s ice cream that softened him up a bit, it’s the gesture she made in bringing it to him. Now that they have both relaxed a bit they can move on to resolving their issue. It’s good that she had the wisdom and maturity to make the first move.
